polar ices

I'm so chuffed, I even managed a morning sketch on a Saturday. Stuart gave me the ice cream van idea. The one outside our house, Ali Baba, is very very loud, and waits until it gets right under my window to give a sharp blast of a German oompa song, and give me a heart attack. Some updates: I've been selected as Featured Illustrator for the UK's Society of Children's Book Writers & Illustrators. Hooray! I've also posted two more book reviews: The Tinderbox, illustrated by someone who's a fantastic discovery for me, Russian illustrator Bagram Ibatoulline; and The Animals' Christmas Carol, not so much my kind of book, but Helen Ward paints animals better than almost anyone. edit: And I'm sure I had fellow Seattlite David Lasky's polar bear comic in mind when I did this picture!
