Adventuremice Southwest Tour: Exeter!

Today, for the next leg of our Adventuremice Southwest Tour, my co-author Philip Reeve and I met up with India and Dan from the Exeter branch of Waterstones bookshop for two school visits and an in-shop signing. Besides hauling some heavy boxes of books around, and drawing with us, they also did some otter-wrangling throughout the day (thanks, India and Dan!). The first school we visited was Newton Primary School, which had a lovely big assembly hall painted bright yellow. (WHY didn't I get a picture in there? It was such a lovely colour!) Big thanks to Jo Kingscott for looking after us! We had a great time drawing Pedro with the children, and I managed to grab a couple quick snaps of a their drawings: Then we went on to St David's CofE Primary School, conveniently walking distance from the main bookshop. We had a positively royal welcome, look at our thrones! We presented Adventuremice: Otter Chaos to teacher Paige Bassett's Year 2 class, who were wriggly and excited and absolutely full of great ideas for inventing islands. And I love seeing how children draw Pedro, the variations can be fascinating. Thanks so much for hosting us, St David's! After the second event, we walked back to the main Waterstones Exeter branch (by John Lewis) and signed and doodled a huge stack of books. So if you're in the area soon and fancy a book or two, do stop by there!
