Adventuremice in The Phoenix Comic!
It's been a long time since Reeve & McIntyre have had a comic in The Phoenix Comic, and this is the first appearance of the Adventuremice! Big thanks to Joe Brady and Paul Duffield at the Phoenix for giving Adventuremice such a big feature! The Adventuremice were thrilled, they started off their comics career with a big cover illustration, exploring the ancient tomb of Queen Neferteacake:

(The original watercolour artwork for it is still available to buy here!) For eight weeks, the comic published a chapter of Adventuremice: Of Mice and Mummies, cleverly reformatted to fit the magazine’s pages by freelance designer Katie Bennett. Then Philip and I came up with three standalone Adventuremice comic strips! Last time we did a comic, it was in Issue 44 - Jinks & O’Hare Funfair Repair - and I wrote it, Philip drew and inked it, and I coloured it digitally. But this time I thought I would try painting the comic, old-school in real paint, just the way I make the illustrations for the Adventuremice books. I think I wrote one of the comics and drew it, and Philip wrote two and penciled them, then I did all the final painting. (But we talked them through, there was a lot of overlap in our jobs.) Here’s the first one, very much based on an old joke:

Guess what: we’re going to be in Oxford next spring for Phoenix Fest… So come along on the weekend of 24-25 April 2027 and draw Adventuremice with us! There will be more details later about tickets, but save the date in your diary!
Oo, and here’s another comic:

The originals of these A3-size watercolour painted comics are available to purchase in thee online shop at Adventuremice.com; the first has already sold, but the other two and cover are still available! (Meep!)
