Adventuremice London Launch at Daunt Books Festival 2023
Yesterday my co-author Philip Reeve and I had our London launch for the first book in our new series - Adventuremice: Otter Chaos - at gorgeous Daunt Books in Marylebone. We even drew a poster for it! You'll notice that there are quite a few signatures on the bottom:
That's because we had a team, hard at work on it, before the event began!
We've had quite a few book launches at Daunt Books: you can click through links to see the launches for Oliver and the Seawigs, Cakes in Space, Kevin's Great Escape and Pugs of the Frozen North (which I somehow forgot to blog). It's one of the friendliest and most beautiful bookshops in London, so do stop by if you ever pop up at Baker Street tube station.
The shop was bustling when we arrived, right in the middle of their Daunt Books Festival, and the shop workers were scurrying about, but Rebecca and Jack looked after us wonderfully... AND our otter.
Huge thanks to everyone who came along, including my ol' studiomate Lauren O'Farrell (aka Deadly Knitshade) and her family:
The event started off with a bang!

I showed everyone how to draw our main character, Pedro, and then everyone helped us work out some of the weird and wonderful things you might find in the 'Nameless Isles', shown on the edge of the Adventuremice map in the book.

Meggie Dennis from our publisher David Fickling Books even came along with fancy Adventuremice biscuits!

Making a book is a huge team effort, and you can see some of the team here: publicist Fraser Hutchinson on the left (the original inspiration for one of the characters in our Kevin books, Cardigan Faun), Assistant Editor Meggie Dennis and our main editor and publisher Liz Cross (who's worked on 13 books with me and at least 20 with Philip, including dicovering his very first Mortal Engines novel)! We're very grateful to them for all their efforts toward creating and getting the word out about Adventuremice, and we hope lots of readers find out about it.
Thanks so much to Daunt Books for hosting! If you want to download more free activities, visit our new Adventuremice website: Adventuremice.com and if you missed out, you can still order a signed edition online from Daunt Books right here.
