Adventuremice Dartmoor Mini Tour

Today my co-author Philip Reeve and I went on an Adventuremice Dartmoor Mini Tour, and taught people how to draw our mini hero, Pedro! (He's the star of our new book, Adventuremice: Otter Chaos.) Photo by Philip Reeve And we drew on bookshop windows! Photo by Jenny Donaldson Our tour began in Chagford (note one of several passing tractors in the first photo) at Astor's Bookshop & Art Materials. If you pass the shop, look out for the Adventuremice ship we drew on the front window! Here's owner Tucker Sorrell, coming out to have a look: Photo by Philip Reeve And here are some of the children's drawings of Pedro! (If you missed the event, there's a step-by-step tuturial in the back of the book, or you can find a printable sheet and video at Adventuremice.com.) It's a beautiful bookshop, with truly lush art materials! And we left a stack of signed books, so do stop by if you'd like some. Chagford is a very fitting place to take the first Adventuremice book because it's dedicated 'to the children of Chagford Primary School with love and toasted cheese'. Our next visit was to Ashburton, to Gnash Comics! Here's Philip drawing on the window: Big thanks to everyone who came along and drew with us! For this session, we also had the audience help us design a new island for the 'Nameless Isles', mentioned in the map of the Mouse Islands in the back of the book. It basically turned into a stack of animals, but we had a lot of fun coming up with it. One family came all the way from Cumbria(!) on holiday and it was great to see @lauralaura27 from Twitter: Big thanks to owner Jenny Donaldson for hosting us (and stuffing us with lovely warm hot cross buns from the bakery next door)! We've left lots of signed books at Gnash, so do pop by to get them and support a fine independent bookshop!
