start of the week

Here’s a picture of me trying to face down Monday morning. I am struggling, this is no country for old women.

Saturday’s swap meet in central London was good fun. I ran out of comics but met lots of new people, including, coincidentally, another artist/comics person who lives two houses away from me! She liked the scene in my hourly comic where I’m looking out over a construction site because it’s almost exactly the same view she has from her work desk. It’s nice to know some other solitary person is slaving away nearby at their own desk and drinking too many cups of tea.

Here’s a photo taken in the White Swan with Giovanni Spinella, brandishing his Comics Creators Guild magazine. I like to go to meetings when Gio is there because he makes my cheeks hurt from laughing too much and he explains a lot of the complicated boy-comics stuff that I don’t really know anything about. The CCG look out for comic creators’ legal rights, and they sound keen to get their teeth into another good legal dispute. So if you make comics in the UK and are getting into murky waters, have a chat with them and see what they can do for you.
