new year’s resolution

This year I want to write a few ‘proper’ letters. Not just etiquette-driven thank-you note type things, but things that surprise people when they open the post and make them feel nice that someone’s thinking of them. I can only remember writing one real, pen-to-paper letter last year (to David Lasky, on US election night). This one is a cross between a thank-you note for my lovely new slippers and a letter. (I think I can post it because Bridget’s in Rome so she won’t be looking at my blog right now.)
