I still need to colour it, but I thought, in the spirit of putting something new on my blog every day, that I'd post the linework first. (Click on the image for a larger printable version if you fancy getting out your crayons!)

Here are two marvelous things I've discovered recently:
*A hauntingly beautiful online comic called The Walk by Ryan Pequin. (Scroll up a bit so you don't miss the first panel.)

*The work of fellow DFC contributor Kate Brown. Have a look at her website, her work is gorgeous! Yesterday I bought her manga version of Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream and I can't wait to read it all the way through. It seems much more true to Shakespeare, reading it with manga characters acting it out rather than reading it purely as words on a white page like we did at school.

It's been wonderful hearing back from people who loved the first issue of the DFC. There's a second excellent podcast of interviews with DFC contributors, including John and Patrice Aggs. I was particularly interested in the Aggs' mother-son working relationship and Aggs' discussion of the challenges of drawing black characters in comics.

And Jenni Scott, one of the coordinators of Oxford's CAPTION comics festival, gave the first DFC a thorough write-up here.
