(It's a fairly busy shipping lane.) Here's a little diagram of the tank at Poplar. Apparently the building used to be Poplar train station, but now there's the flashy Docklands Light Rail station, so the rowers get to use the building. \\r\n\\r\n\u003Cimg src=\"https://images.jabberworks.co.uk/lj/1885315373_5404d652c4_o-43af8e7b94.gif\">\\r\n\\r\nI went to two interesting talks at the ICA a couple days ago, one by \u003Ca href=\"http://www.nickabadzis.com\">Nick Abadzis\u003C/a>, about his book, \u003Cb>Laika\u003C/b>, the story of the Russian space dog. The other talk was called \u003Ca href=\"http://www.drawnandquarterly.com/shopCatalogLong.php?st=art&art=a4511616c673cf\">Aya and Africa\u003C/a>, illustrated by Clément Oubrerie, about a series of comics set in the Ivory Coast. The writer, Marguerite Abouet, was scheduled to speak as well, but she stayed home with their son who was ill. The talks were part of \u003Ca href=\"http://www.paulgravett.com/comica/comica07/comica07.htm\">Comica\u003C/a>, expertly organised by the lovely Paul Gravett.\\r\n\\r\nOh, and \u003Ca href=\"http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jHvDTTPW4z8\">this video\u003C/a> made me laugh, a quick-thinking 4-year-old calling 911 for help with her math homework.
