My neighbour friend and I had just been reading and re-reading \u003Cb>Viviane Schwarz\u003C/b>'s \u003Ci>There are Cats in This Book\u003C/i>, so she made up her own book for Viviane, \u003Ci>There are Cats in This Book, Too\u003C/i>. \u003Ca href=\"http://vivianeschwarz.blogspot.com/2009/04/books-and-yaks.html\">(Viv gives it a mention here on her blog.)\u003C/a> I took some photos of her adding some last-minute touches on the train:\\r\n\\r\n\u003Cimg src=\"https://images.jabberworks.co.uk/lj/crystalpalace1-47184e6cdf.jpg\">\\r\n\\r\nThe \u003Ca href=\"http://supercomicsadventuresquad.blogspot.com\">DFC\u003C/a>'s \u003Cb>Gary Northfield\u003C/b> had a copy of his fab comic, \u003Ci>Derek the Sheep\u003C/i> in French. (\u003Ca href=\"https://twitter.com/Derekthesheep\">\u003Ci>Derek the Sheep\u003C/i>\u003C/a> is translated as \u003Ci>Norbert le Mouton\u003C/i> because the editors thought the French wouldn't really connect with the name Derek.) The bits he read were very, very funny, and when I told my neighbour friend she could buy one book, that was the one she chose.\\r\n\\r\n\u003Cimg src=\"https://images.jabberworks.co.uk/lj/crystalpalace5-3f87b7c6c0.jpg\">\\r\n\\r\nThe DFC's \u003Cb>Emma Vieceli\u003C/b> wonders why Patrick Warren's latest \u003Ca href=\"http://www.selfmadehero.com/manga_shakespeare/index.html\">Manga Shakespeare\u003C/a> book, \u003Ci>Henry VIII\u003C/i> is selling at the bookshop when it doesn't come out til next week. Huh?\\r\n\\r\n\u003Cimg src=\"https://images.jabberworks.co.uk/lj/crystalpalace15-ec866057a0.jpg\">\\r\n\\r\n\u003Cb>Paul Duffield\u003C/b> with \u003Ci>The Tempest\u003C/i> he drew, from the same series \u003Ca href=\"http://spoonbard.com\">(Paul's website)\u003C/a>:\\r\n\\r\n\u003Cimg src=\"https://images.jabberworks.co.uk/lj/crystalpalace14-63290e814b.jpg\">\\r\n\\r\nAt the Upper Norwood Joint Library, \u003Ca href=\"http://emma.sweatdrop.com\">Emma Vieceli\u003C/a> (\u003Ca href=\"http://emmav.livejournal.com/\" class=\"lj-user\">emmav\u003C/a>) gave us comics people a great master class in how to do a comics workshop (and possibly the kids learned something, too).  She did a cracking first session on designing characters, ending with us all making a list of words and combining them to come up with our own silly versions. We went for four panels, then had everyone read out the results at the end, and almost died laughing. Which was probably a good thing, seeing as the trains were messed up and it took us three hours to get back instead of the normal fifteen minutes. The funniest thing was hearing this 7-year-old talking to her dad on the phone, spelling out rather delightedly to him, 'Dad, I'm in the P-U-B!'
