[{"data":1,"prerenderedAt":11},["ShallowReactive",2],{"blog-post-road-trip-to-trails-end-bookstore-in-winthrop":3},{"_type":4,"body":5,"bodyHtml":6,"excerpt":5,"featuredImage":5,"publishedAt":7,"slug":8,"tags":9,"title":10},"blogPost",null,"I've been away for awhile, in the American woods, with BEARS! \\r\n\\r\n\u003Cimg src=\"https://images.jabberworks.co.uk/lj/748074_original-fab57a51ec.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\">\\r\n\\r\nMy Taiwanese sister Joyce, my husband Stuart and I went on a road trip from my sister's house in Seattle across the mountains on \u003Ca href=\"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Washington_State_Route_20\">North Cascades Scenic Highway\u003C/a> to a bookshop in Winthrop, stopping in National Forest (and a National Forest center) on the way. ...Oh, bears and a BANANA SLUG. \\r\n\\r\n\u003Cimg src=\"https://images.jabberworks.co.uk/lj/750086_original-f8b51cb6da.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\">\\r\n\\r\nHere's \u003Ca href=\"https://www.trailsendbookstore.com/\">Trail's End Bookstore\u003C/a>, in the lovely, very Wild-West town of \u003Ca href=\"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Winthrop,_Washington\">Winthrop\u003C/a>. \\r\n\\r\n\u003Cimg src=\"https://images.jabberworks.co.uk/lj/749302_original-687e737a91.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\">\\r\n\\r\n\u003Cb>Abilene Hagee\u003C/b> and her team had created a lovely window display, featuring \u003Ci>\u003Ca href=\"http://www.jampires.com/\">Jampires\u003C/a>\u003C/i> and \u003Ci>\u003Ca href=\"http://jabberworks.co.uk/pugs-of-the-frozen-north/\">Pugs of the Frozen North\u003C/a>\u003C/i>, and a local bakery had supplied the biggest jammy donuts I ever saw! \\r\n\\r\n\u003Cimg src=\"https://images.jabberworks.co.uk/lj/749897_original-df909117b8.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\">\\r\n\\r\nWe even had a pug present! Thanks to everyone who came along and drew Pugs with me, and helped me create the giant Pugs boardgame.\\r\n\\r\n\u003Cimg src=\"https://images.jabberworks.co.uk/lj/749386_original-8947c7abfe.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\">\\r\n\u003C!--more Click here for lots more under the cut!-->\\r\nHere's the lovely team. The original person who invited me was Joyce's architecture colleague, \u003Cb>Christine Janikowski\u003C/b> (left), who's also the bookshop's owner.  \\r\n\\r\n\u003Cimg src=\"https://images.jabberworks.co.uk/lj/749725_original-ccfcc35f52.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\">\\r\n\\r\nIn the evening, Christine brought us all home with her and gave us dinner as we sat watching sweeping sunset views over the Methow Valley. There's my sister Mary, and Joyce's architecture boss \u003Cb>Pat Janikowski\u003C/b>. (Joyce and Pat \u003Ca href=\"http://www.pjarchitects.com/people/\">design zoos \u003C/a>together.) \\r\n\\r\n\u003Cimg src=\"https://images.jabberworks.co.uk/lj/750620_original-347cb3fec8.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\">\\r\n\\r\nChristine, Pat, my sister's partner Mike and Stuart just after the sun set and Christine put out lamps.
