I forgot about my camera and didn't get any photos, but \u003Ca href=http://vivianeschwarz.blogspot.com>Viviane Schwarz\u003C/a>, \u003Ca href=\"http://www.garynorthfield.co.uk\">Gary Northfield\u003C/a>, \u003Ca href=\"http://aqwatic.blogspot.com\">John Aggs\u003C/a>, \u003Ca href=\"http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ILYA\">Ed Hillyer (Ilya)\u003C/a>, Alex Fitch from \u003Ca href=\"http://www.panelborders.com\">Panel Borders\u003C/a> comics radio interviews, two recent Camberwell graduates, a big-time \u003Ca href=\"http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_DFC\">DFC\u003C/a> fan, the Lady West (an artist, and wife of the Admiral of the British Navy - that's a new one!) and a bunch of other people - several new to comics - came along. I gave my shpiel on my work and other work I've seen recently by women comics artists, then we discussed Shaun Tan's novel, \u003Ca href=\"http://www.writeaway.org.uk/component/option,com_mtree/task,viewlink/link_id,2460/Itemid,99999999/\">\u003Ci>The Arrival\u003C/i>\u003C/a>, then the organisers \u003Ca href=\"http://www.nikjep.demon.co.uk/indexns07.htm\">Nicola Streeten\u003C/a> and \u003Ca href=\"http://www.sarahlightman.com\">Sarah Lightman\u003C/a> gave short presentations of their work. And we had drinks and Sarah's amazing home-baked cookies. It was great seeing Sarah's work, and Nicola's working on what looks to be a fascinating graphic novel; I'm hoping she sees the whole thing through.\\r\n\\r\n\u003Cb>Laydeez Do Comics is going to run monthly talks and discussion groups, and they're looking for comics artists to do ten-minute presentations of their work.\u003C/b> So if you're interested, possibly even coming from abroad and might make your trip coincide with the talk, do get in touch!  \u003Ca href=\"http://www.nikjep.demon.co.uk/layindex.htm\">(Here's the website.)\u003C/a>\\r\n\\r\nMy camera ran out of batteries at the curry restaurant afterwards, but here are a couple Nicola sent through, one of the two of us, and with Gary, John and Viv up in Poppadom's loft space.
