Thank you, Philip, for this \u003Ci>oh-so-lovely\u003C/i> picture you drew of me during my introduction:\\r\n\\r\n\u003Cimg src=\"https://images.jabberworks.co.uk/lj/imaginefest_sarahportr_zps714dd93a-57605a2de8.jpg\">\\r\n\\r\nWe were introduced by the incredibly striking \u003Ca href=\"http://www.christinejohnston.com/\">Madame Lark\u003C/a>, who was rather disturbingly carrying a large saw and violin bow. \\r\n\\r\n\u003Cimg src=\"https://images.jabberworks.co.uk/lj/imaginefest_philsarah_mlark_zpsfcf9e959-326a958862.jpg\">\\r\n\\r\nNo one was injured during the course of our event, although some musical notes got some seriously abusive-but-impressive treatment. She's a hard woman with a voice box and she knows how to use it.\\r\n\\r\n\u003Cimg src=\"https://images.jabberworks.co.uk/lj/imaginefest_sarah_mlark_zps285e8f89-7001e6a60c.jpg\">\\r\n\\r\nCan you believe I used to be shy... For our afternoon \u003Ci>Monsters vs Goblins\u003C/i> show, the ballroom was packed, with people standing at the back. \\r\n\\r\n\u003Cimg src=\"https://images.jabberworks.co.uk/lj/imaginefest13_ruth1_zps771620d9-8aada7703f.jpg\">\\r\n\u003Cfont size=\"1\">\u003Ci>Photo by Ruth Huddleston\u003C/i>\u003C/font>\\r\n\\r\n\u003C!--more Click here for lots more drawings and photos under the cut!-->\\r\nIt was lovely of the festival to accommodate our monsters theme with their own monsters...\\r\n\\r\n\u003Cimg src=\"https://images.jabberworks.co.uk/lj/imaginefest_window_zps1229a723-e1451fd076.jpg\">\\r\n\\r\nHere's a monster that the audience helped us draw, Philip and me taking turns adding bits to it.\\r\n\\r\n\u003Cimg src=\"https://images.jabberworks.co.uk/lj/imaginefest_monster2_zps2fb466f9-268fcec036.jpg\">\\r\n\\r\nThis page started out as a joint drawing but turned into a war zone.\\r\n\\r\n\u003Cimg src=\"https://images.jabberworks.co.uk/lj/imaginefest_monsterbattle_zps3433259e-5ff91cdd30.jpg\">\\r\n\\r\nAnother audience-assisted monster drawing:\\r\n\\r\n\u003Cimg src=\"https://images.jabberworks.co.uk/lj/imaginefest_monster1_zps7c4eb560-89bc1127f6.jpg\">\\r\n\\r\nThe group at the morning show got to draw their own monsters and goblins, too! \\r\n\\r\n\u003Cimg src=\"https://images.jabberworks.co.uk/lj/imaginefest_morningdraw_zps4d465e0d-fcc4e120a8.jpg\">\\r\n\\r\nAt the book signing afterward, it was fun seeing them come up with their drawings.\\r\n\\r\n\u003Cimg src=\"https://images.jabberworks.co.uk/lj/imaginefest_kidmonsters2_zps749074b5-9ac7feeee9.jpg\">\\r\n\\r\nThis girl drew a very literal \u003Ca href=\"http://www.jabberworks.co.uk/morris-the-mankiest-monster/\">Morris the Mankiest Monster\u003C/a> vs \u003Ca href=\"http://www.philip-reeve.com/goblins.html\">Skarper the goblin\u003C/a>! \\r\n\\r\n\u003Cimg src=\"https://images.jabberworks.co.uk/lj/imaginefest_kidmonsters3_zps60ef08f2-28f3634cff.jpg\">\\r\n\\r\nHere's a drawing Philip made when he was introducing Skarper and the goblin chief, King Knobbler. It was fun getting a rise out of the crowd by adding the bows, bunnies and ballet shoes while Philip had his back turned. \u003Ci>BEHIND YOU!\u003C/i>\\r\n\\r\n\u003Cimg src=\"https://images.jabberworks.co.uk/lj/imaginefest_goblindwarf_zpsd47b2919-e46fcd7e00.jpg\">\\r\n\\r\nPhilip had a 150-people, sold-out Goblins workshop in between our two events (they really worked him!). Here he is, right before the workshop, doing a warm-up drawing.\\r\n\\r\n\u003Cimg src=\"https://images.jabberworks.co.uk/lj/imaginefest_philipdraw_zpsd337a283-bb90efcaeb.jpg\">\\r\n\\r\nPhilip led the group in a world-building exercise. He's used to the 'young adult' crowd, from his Mortal Engines books and such, so it was a little different and surprising for him, having a much younger audience.
