We didn't know much about the house, but we got a real surprise when we came up the driveway! It had been built around 1430 (with some of the timbers borrowed from an earlier house) and inside was the most atmospheric place imaginable. The walls were combinations of timber, mud and brick, with pegged beams and a fireplace as big as our flat. It's the kind of house I never imagined that people I know would live in. I had a brilliant time exploring the place. I just found some articles on it - \u003Ca href=\"http://www.telegraph.co.uk/property/main.jhtml?xml=/property/2003/10/25/pmed25.xml\">here\u003C/a> and \u003Ca href=\"http://www.wealddown.co.uk/News/news-medieval-wall-panels.htm\">here\u003C/a>. The first article says it's 'one of England's few surviving, intact, Wealden Hall houses'.
