Our studio guard gnome... IT'S ALIVE.

I'd never seen the little guy at the front door lit up before, didn't even know it could light up. And it was lit for no apparent reason, there was no one around. A portent of something very evil, surely.

And Kate Middleton! Surely not a portent of evil... unless she's drawn by one David O'Connell. You can pick up your copy of this fab looking mini comic this Saturday at the London Comic & Small Press Expo (new Comics Beat article about it here).

Due to dire deadline straits, I sadly won't be able to stay at Expo all day. If you want me to sign a copy of Vern and Lettuce or Birdsong, you'll be able to find me, for sure, at The Fleece Station table between 10am-1pm. It's a grand old caff where, like this gentleman, you can get a good plate of ham, egg and chips.

In the morning, we'd run a few errands in our nearby neighbourhood of Peckham, which is a fabulous London tourist stop in that my sister saw loads of things she'd never see in her hometown. (Back to the horror film theme if you're a vegetarian, apologies.)

I once took photos at a butcher in Brixton and almost got my head chopped off and camera taken away because I think I caught some dodgy dealing or illegally hired staff on film. But my sister asked permission and charmed the employees and they let us take lots of photos.

You can't buy these in Sainsbury's.

Supermalt is our local drink of choice. It's very tasty, a lot like Russian kvas. Above it sit Jelabi sweets, which are so sugary they can make you go cross-eyed.

If you're ever in Peckham and fancy sampling the local delicacies, this is the best cafe for it, with its mix of Nigerian and south asian food. Not for vegetarians. You'll get a big plate of meat and curries for a fiver and a ball of pulped yam to wipe it up.

","2011-03-11T10:51:00.000Z","help-im-stuck-in-a-horror-film",[],"help! i'm stuck in a horror film!",1776628719860]
