See, here I am about to stage dive into a group of 5-year-olds.\\r\n\\r\n\u003Cimg src=\"https://images.jabberworks.co.uk/lj/Millfields_Hackney_4-678f903062.jpg\">\\r\n\\r\nI had a full day of pirating today in Hoxton, as part of the \u003Cb>Pop-Up Festival\u003C/b> I \u003Ca href=\"http://jabberworks.livejournal.com/456987.html\">blogged about earlier\u003C/a> (hopefully we'll have a big comics festival for kids in central London on either 31 June or 1 July. But it's more than a one-weekend summer festival, Director \u003Cb>Dylan Calder\u003C/b> and his team are doing story-related events all over London before then, here's the \u003Ca href=\"http://booklinks.pop-up.org.uk/\">Booklinks website\u003C/a>. And you can follow what's happening under the \u003Ca href=\"https://twitter.com/#!/search/realtime/%23booklinks\">#Booklinks hashtag on Twitter\u003C/a>.\\r\n\\r\n\u003Ca href=\"http://booklinks.pop-up.org.uk/\">\u003Cimg src=\"https://images.jabberworks.co.uk/lj/booklinks-8b4407c9c0.jpg\">\u003C/a>\\r\n\\r\nToday we drew some cool pirates! All the kids had the Design-Your-Own-Pirate activity sheets (\u003Ca href=\"http://www.jabberworks.co.uk/princess-pirate.php\">downloadable here\u003C/a>), but they're going to work on them later; while I was there, we just made mad drawings together. This one's from \u003Cb>Millfields Primary School\u003C/b>:\\r\n\\r\n\u003Cimg src=\"https://images.jabberworks.co.uk/lj/Millfields_Hackney_1-67f22f6e78.jpg\">\\r\n\\r\nAnd rather excitingly, my event was back-to-back with another by illustrator Guy Parker-Rees! You may have seen the book he did with Giles Andreae, \u003Ci>Giraffes Can't Dance\u003C/i>, and \u003Ca href=\"http://guyparkerrees.com/\">here's his website\u003C/a>. I first met Guy in Brighton, at the \u003Ca href=\"http://jabberworks.livejournal.com/431048.html\">talk I gave for the Brighton Illustrators Group\u003C/a>, and it was great to see him again! I managed to catch the last ten minutes of his event, and he stayed for all of mine.
