Here's the cover I drew, working with designer Alison Gadsby at David Fickling Books. I went through lots of different covers for DFB, it wasn't an easy process! But you can see some of the work-in-progress versions here. We started out with one idea (the cake) which got worked up to completion, then went through lots of other rough versions (not all shown here), until eventually a version with a pared-back colour palette got the official sign-off. I don't agree to do covers very often - there's a lot of commmittee work and decisions involved and they always take longer than I budget time for.
