That place has the most brilliant staircases. From the entrance, they spiral up very gracefully. But if you go downstairs, they meander in this elegant but almost sloppy way. I don't know who designed the stairs, but they remind me a bit of this fabulous Russian architect named \u003Ca href=\"http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fyodor_Shekhtel\">Fyodor Shekhtel\u003C/a>. One of the things for which Shekhtel's most well known is a \u003Ca href=\"http://www.dkimages.com/discover/previews/803/50094523.JPG\">crazy staircase\u003C/a> in the Gorky House Museum.\\r\n\\r\n\u003Cimg src=\"https://images.jabberworks.co.uk/lj/stairs-619e3e1d8b.jpg\">\\r\n\\r\nLast night I went to see the exhibition of Camberwell's MA Illustration group at the \u003Ca href=\"http://www.london-se1.co.uk/whatson/event/4386/works-in-progress\">Waterloo Gallery\u003C/a>. Don't miss it if you're in the area (behind Waterloo station and across from the Old Vic). The show runs until this Saturday.\\r\n\\r\n\u003C!--more one more pic of auntie and me-->\\r\n\u003Cimg src=\"https://images.jabberworks.co.uk/lj/aunte08-9857226f22.jpg\">","2008-04-16T21:31:00.000Z","courtauld-visit",[],"courtauld visit",1776628722603]
