The children we found there were enthusiastic, creative, and knew our books well! \\r\n\\r\n\u003Cimg src=\"https://images.jabberworks.co.uk/lj/1185863_original-b0e51d90eb.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\">\\r\n\u003Ci>\u003Cfont size=\"1\">Photo from the Blackawton Primary School weekly newsletter\u003C/i>\u003C/font>\\r\n\\r\n\u003Ca href=\"https://twitter.com/AliSewan\">Alice Swan\u003C/a>, on the left, was one of the editors I worked with at Faber on \u003Ci>\u003Ca href=\"https://uk.bookshop.org/books/the-faber-book-of-bedtime-stories-a-comforting-story-tonight-for-a-happy-day-tomorrow/9780571363933\">The Faber Book of Bedtime Stories\u003C/a>\u003C/i> and she set up the day, with the generous support of Friends of Blackawaton School (thank you, FOBS!). \u003Cb>Helen Perry\u003C/b> is the School Administrator and the mastermind who knows how \u003Ci>everything\u003C/i> in the school works. And \u003Cb>Jane Fincham\u003C/b>, on the right, arrived with boxes from the \u003Ca href=\"https://www.harbourbookshop.co.uk/\">Harbour Bookshop in Kingsbridge\u003C/a> to make sure everyone could get their own signed and dedicated book. \\r\n\\r\n\u003Cimg src=\"https://images.jabberworks.co.uk/lj/1186086_original-c78e4d81df.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\">\\r\n\u003C!--more Click here for more photos under the cut!-->\\r\nPhilip and I did an assembly featuring the latest book in our Roly-Poly Flying Pony series, Kevin vs the Unicorns. Then while Philip was working with the older children, telling them about his new \u003Ca href=\"https://uk.bookshop.org/books?keywords=Utterly+Dark\">Utterly Dark\u003C/a>books, I led a \u003Ca href=\"https://uk.bookshop.org/books?keywords=grumpycorn\">Grumpycorn\u003C/a> assembly and workshop with the lower primary where I led them in making their own unicorn books. Here are some of the book covers they drew! \\r\n\\r\n\u003Cimg src=\"https://images.jabberworks.co.uk/lj/1186670_original-561fd03ddd.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\">\\r\n\\r\nWhile I admire the older children's inventiveness and control of line, I absolutely adore watching how the littlest ones put so much energy into their drawing and sometimes even teach me wild new ways of drawing things. \\r\n\\r\n\u003Cimg src=\"https://images.jabberworks.co.uk/lj/1186472_original-b58e94c704.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\">\\r\n\\r\nIn Philip's island worldbuilding session, they came up with all sorts of landmarks: \\r\n\\r\n\u003Cimg src=\"https://images.jabberworks.co.uk/lj/1187109_original-1f4bdb1469.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\">\\r\n\\r\nHuge thanks to Class 2 teacher and Literacy Lead \u003Cb>Vicky Llewellyn\u003C/b> for looking after us, and Head Teacher \u003Cb>Liam Fielding\u003C/b> for all their support! \\r\n\\r\n\u003Cimg src=\"https://images.jabberworks.co.uk/lj/1187021_original-591c6a4226.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\">\\r\n\\r\nThe school even heartily sang us a storybook song, written specially and accompanied on piano by their music teacher \u003Cb>Tiggy Saint\u003C/b> - thank you for making us feel so welcome!
