Right now I'm adding colour to the diagrammes for the building exteriors. These aren't supposed to be illustrations, just colour indications so the set designers know how to paint things. The solid-blue items in the window display will be vinyl cutouts stuck onto the windowpanes. As jobs go, this one is SERIOUSLY FUN. \\r\n\\r\nIf you \u003Ca href=\"http://jabberworks.livejournal.com/tag/discover\">click here\u003C/a>, you can see earlier posts with sketches and photos of \u003Cb>Neal Layton, Ed Vere\u003C/b> and me monstering away. The village will be open from the launch on 28 May until March next year.\\r\n\\r\n\u003Cimg src=\"https://images.jabberworks.co.uk/lj/monster_boutique-c83d1b3dae.jpg\">\\r\n\\r\nHere's the earlier sketch; you can see how it had to change a bit to suit the shape of the village street and the size of the visiting children. \\r\n\\r\n\u003Cimg src=\"https://images.jabberworks.co.uk/lj/monster_boutique_1-3fe75d5f6a.jpg\">\\r\n\\r\nI'm sort of going for a souped-up version of the shops in an old book by Eric Ravilious called \u003Ca href=\"http://web.mac.com/bannisterdavid/iWeb/Site%202/Images.html#IMAGES/\">\u003Ci>High Street\u003C/i>\u003C/a> and the kind of places you'd see on \u003Ca href=\"http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jermyn_street\">Jermyn Street\u003C/a>, just behind Piccadilly, with all its fabulous foppish men's shops. There's also quite a bit of \u003Ca href=\"http://www.jabberworks.co.uk/vernlettuce-book.php\">\u003Ci>Vern and Lettuce\u003C/i>\u003C/a>'s \u003Ca href=\"http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saville_Row\">Saville Row\u003C/a> page going on there.\\r\n\\r\n\u003Cimg src=\"https://images.jabberworks.co.uk/lj/vern_saville_row-80def7cd9c.jpg\">\\r\n\\r\nDon't miss the \u003Ca href=\"http://www.bookstart.org.uk/books/lets-write-a-story/\">great online book\u003C/a> that writer and illustrator \u003Cb>Polly Dunbar\u003C/b> created for her last post as Booktrust blogger-in-residence. So much work in that!
