another mysterious wee beastie

Thanks to those of you who helped me identify the last bug I found on my lavender bush! Now there’s another something strange on the same bush. Does anyone know what this one might be? (I probably should stop handling these critters until I find out what they are…) I want to dress up as this one next Halloween, it would be such a wonderfully punk outfit.

Oh my goodness, I never would have guessed that! I looked it up in Google images and i think you’re right. Thanks so much! (Not bad news this time, whew.)

I can’t believe I’ve seen grownup ladybugs my whole life and never spotted one of these, that’s nuts.

That is a very good thing! πŸ˜€ Yes, aphids also live on my poor lavender! It is an entire ecosystem, that little plant. But I’m glad for the ladybugs. (Which they call ladybirds here for some bizarre reason that I haven’t figured out yet.)
