Here’s a poster image of my sister at the bar where she works. She painted a picture of me in the same place when I was in Seattle last week, so it’s interesting to swap round. I’ve also included a photo I took of the Blue Moon sign with my sister on it. (Our mother wasn’t too thrilled to see her so publicly in the buff…)

      Re: Hurrah !

Thanks, Helen! I was planning to do a lot of sketching in Seatle, but it just didn’t happen. My sister and I talked about how nice it would be if we could paint together regularly, and I saw all these cool things I would have liked to have drawn there, but it’s always so rushed, trying to see everyone in two weeks. I love living in London, but it’s that kind of thing that makes me a bit homesick… 😛

That’s a great looking poster! And the sign is nice too. Has your sister always been the Blue Moon woman? Or is this an updated version of their traditional logo?

I went into the Blue Moon once in about 1994, and the air quality sent me right back out again. I never returned. Now that smoking has been banned in Seattle’s bars and restaurants, maybe I will be able to venture back in.

Well, it’s very proud of its reviewer comments:

It definitely has an appeal all of its own, but I like it (although that might have something to do with my sister buying me beers and going on a camping trip to Salmon La Sac with a bunch of the regulars). The old sign is still in the back, but the owner had it repainted a year or two ago. And for a few years, outside, there’s been a miniature version of the Seattle Art Museum’s Hammer Man, called Hammered Man.
